Blue Mesa has 1-7 inches in the Iola basin but still some water in Iola as well.  San Cristobal is 50% ice with ice ranging in the 1-8 inch range. We do have safe ice on both of these lakes that we are starting to run ice fishing trips and catching great numbers of fish.  Since we are in early ice conditions, these numbers can change daily so always check ice yourself before fishing, or give us a call and get out with a full time, experienced guide.

Safety precautions:

As always, check ice for yourself and don’t assume any ice is safe.  We see too many people running out on ice without checking, just because they see people out there.  Pressure ridges and late freezing spots can cause weak areas in the ice.  Fish with a buddy, use a spud bar to check as you go, have ice picks and a throwable with a rope, and always keep an eye on early ice conditions.
